Glorification of Allah and His Power

1 Everything in the heavens and the earth glorifies Allah, and He is the Almighty, the Wise.

2 To Him belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. He gives life and causes death, and He is capable of all things.

3 He is the First and the Last, the Apparent and the Hidden, and He knows all things.

4 He is the One who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then established Himself on the throne. He knows what enters the earth and what emerges from it, what descends from the sky and what ascends to it. He is with you wherever you are, and Allah sees what you do.

5 To Him belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and to Allah all matters are returned.

6 He merges the night into the day and merges the day into the night, and He knows what is in the hearts.

Belief in Allah and Spending in His Cause

7 Believe in Allah and His Messenger and spend from what He has made you successors of. Those who believe among you and spend will have a great reward.

8 And why do you not believe in Allah while the Messenger invites you to believe in your Lord and He has taken your covenant, if you are believers.

9 It is He who sends down upon His servant clear signs that He may bring you out from darkness into the light. And indeed, Allah is to you Kind and Merciful.

10 And why do you not spend in the cause of Allah while to Allah belongs the inheritance of the heavens and the earth? Not equal among you are those who spent before the conquest and fought. Those are greater in degree than they who spent afterwards and fought. But to all Allah has promised the best. And Allah is Aware of what you do.

11 Who is it that will loan Allah a goodly loan so He will multiply it for him and he will have a noble reward.

The Fate of Believers and Hypocrites

12 On the Day you will see the believing men and believing women, their light proceeding before them and on their right, it will be said, Today your good news is gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein you will abide eternally. That is the great success.

13 On the Day the hypocrite men and hypocrite women will say to those who believed, Wait for us that we may acquire some of your light. It will be said, Go back behind you and seek light. And a wall will be placed between them with a door, its interior containing mercy, but on the outside of it is torment.

14 They will call to them, Were we not with you? They will say, Yes, but you led yourselves into temptation, you awaited, you doubted, and wishful thinking deluded you until the command of God came and the deceiver deceived you concerning God.

15 So today no ransom will be taken from you or from those who disbelieved. Your refuge is the Fire. It is most worthy of you, and wretched is the destination.

Remembrance of Allah and Softening of Hearts

16 Has the time not come for those who believe that their hearts should become humble for the remembrance of Allah and what has come down of the truth? And let them not be like those who were given the Scripture before, and the time was prolonged for them, so their hearts hardened; and many of them are disobedient.

17 Know that Allah gives life to the earth after its lifelessness. We have made clear to you the signs; perhaps you will understand.

Charity and Its Rewards

18 Indeed the charitable men and charitable women and those who lend to God a good loan, it will be multiplied for them and they will have a generous reward

19 And those who believe in God and His messengers, they are the truthful and the witnesses with their Lord. They will have their reward and their light. But those who disbelieve and deny Our verses, those are the companions of Hellfire

The Temporary Nature of Worldly Life

20 Know that the life of this world is but play and amusement and adornment and boasting among yourselves and competition in increase of wealth and children. It is like the example of rain whose resulting plant growth pleases the farmers then it dries and you see it turned yellow then it becomes scattered debris. And in the Hereafter is severe punishment and forgiveness from Allah and approval. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion.

21 Race toward forgiveness from your Lord and a Garden whose width is like the width of the heavens and earth prepared for those who believed in Allah and His messengers. That is the bounty of Allah which He gives to whom He wills and Allah is the possessor of great bounty.

Predestination and Detachment from Worldly Matters

22 No disaster strikes upon the earth or among yourselves except that it is in a record before We bring it into being. Indeed that, for God, is easy.

23 So you do not grieve over what has eluded you and not exult over what He has given you. And God does not like everyone self-deluded and boastful.

24 Those who are stingy and enjoin upon people stinginess. And whoever turns away then indeed, God is the Free of need, the Praiseworthy.

The Purpose of Sending Messengers

25 We have sent Our messengers with clear proofs and We sent down with them the Scripture and the balance so that people may establish justice. And We sent down iron, in which there is great might and benefits for people, so that God may make evident those who support Him and His messengers unseen. Indeed, God is Strong and Exalted in Might.

26 And We have sent Noah and Abraham and established in their descendants prophethood and the Scripture. Among them are guided ones, but many of them are defiantly disobedient.

27 Then We sent Our messengers following their footsteps and followed them with Jesus, son of Mary, and gave him the Gospel. And We placed in the hearts of those who followed him compassion and mercy. But monasticism they invented We did not prescribe for them only seeking the pleasure of God, but they did not observe it with due observance. So We gave those who believed among them their reward, but many of them are defiantly disobedient.

Call to Believers and Divine Light

28 O you who believe fear God and believe in His Messenger He will give you a double portion of His mercy and make for you a light by which you will walk and forgive you And God is Forgiving and Merciful

29 So that the People of the Book may know that they have no power over anything of Gods grace and that all grace is in Gods hand He gives it to whom He wills And God is the possessor of great grace
